Honest answers take 3 minutes. You'll get a detailed analysis and personal action plan.
For each statement, choose the answer that honestly describes how you usually feel. There are no right or wrong answers — this is a self-reflection tool, not an exam. The more honest you are, the more useful your results will be.
Speaking anxiety is one of the most common barriers for English learners — studies suggest that up to 70% of adult language learners experience significant speaking anxiety, even when their grammar and vocabulary are strong. This assessment helps you identify which specific areas cause the most anxiety, so you can address them directly rather than vaguely trying to "speak more".
Speaking confidence is built through deliberate exposure — not just more study. Research by Krashen and other applied linguists shows that comprehensible input (listening and reading at your level) builds the unconscious foundation, while low-stakes speaking practice (conversations where mistakes don't have big consequences) builds the confidence to use what you know.
This assessment measures: everyday conversation confidence, formal presentation skills, job interview readiness, telephone and virtual meeting comfort, confidence when misunderstood, comfort in group conversations, speed and fluency under pressure, and accent/pronunciation anxiety. By addressing each dimension separately, you can create a much more effective improvement plan than a general "practice speaking" goal.
